The Military Museums' Gala 2011 Success and CWMM Website Launch

How time flies! Canada West Military Museums has been busy, busy, busy over the past few months. A quick summary since our last blog post many months ago:

- The Military Museums' Gala was held on 29 October 2011, and was met with great success. The Gala was co-hosted by Canada West Military Museums and the Mountain Academy Society. The Mountain Academy Society has recently assumed a mission to support educational programming at The Military Museums. Over $100,000 was netted from the event. This money will go to support educational programming at The Military Museums. We are excited to announce that The Military Museums' Gala 2012 will be held on 3 November 2012 in Calgary. More details to follow early in the new year! Canada West will be supporting the Mountain Academy Society in the planning of Gala 2012.

- At long last, Canada West has launched its official website! You can find us at www.cwmmuseums.ca. There you will find information about us and the Board of Directors, how to support and donate to Canada West, along with information on how to contact us.

In the new year, Canada West will be focusing on reaching out to military museums across the Land Force Western Area to get a sense of the issues that need attention in this community, including sustainability and succession planning for military museums. Do you have issues that you would like to explore with Canada West? We welcome your ideas and encourage you to visit www.cwmmuseums.ca to take a look at what we're about, and how to contact us.

Does your museum or organization have an interesting blog you think Canada West would be interested in? If so, let us know!

The Military Museums' Gala 2011

CWMM is a new non-profit charitable organization that is excited to be supporting The Military Museums (TMM) and its education programs. To raise funds in support of TMM's education programs, CWMM is proudly hosting The Military Museums' Gala on 29 October, 2011, in Calgary, Alberta. This is a really unique opportunity to connect with your Calgary clients, partners and friends.

Please visit http://www.themilitarymuseums.ca/tmmgala-2011 for more information regarding the Gala. The Gala website is also the place to purchase tickets and corporate sponsorship packages.

The education programs at TMM hosted over 10,000 students in 2010, and participation was up by 57% in the first quarter of 2011. The education programs at TMM are growing and would really benefit from your support. Enjoy the pageantry and color of Alberta's military community at an evening that will include cocktails, dinner and dancing, along with a VIP Room for our corporate sponsors - all while supporting a great cause!

This is the first of many posts that will contain information that we hope is useful and relevant to the military museum community in Western Canada. If you have suggestions or ideas for future posts, or have an event or topic that you would like us to blog about, please leave a comment. CWMM is also working on launching its really unique and useful website where you will be able to contact us directly, so stay tuned!
